for me today, so i'm posting early. in the age of simulcasting i don' t see the live product that often, so i'm going to eschew the shopping rush and head over to hollywood for day 1 of the autumn turf festival. there's a small pick 6 carryover today, so i'll be playing that as well.
r1: magic mark. chatlos thought enough of this one to start him in an open maiden special this summer and now 'mark makes his return off a brief freshening. he should run better in here at this elongated sprint distance and at 8/1 on the morning line, he's the value in the race.
r6: kenza. witten looks like a standout on paper off her euro form, but i've seen many of these flop in their first stateside run. kenza is up against it, a maiden only winner facing multiple stakes winners. no matter, she showed a brilliant turn of foot in her last and shirreffs is on fire this meet, so she should run better than expected. pletcher's horse, paddy's daisy has the big beyers but those fields were awful and she's a play against in my book.
r8: worldwind romance. this horse has improved leaps and bounds for the shuman/gill machine back east and should be able to handle the jump in class. 2003 BC Sprint victor cajun beat appears on turf here and while he certainly could win, i'd play against him. if the pace were softer, i'd play hombre rapido, who makes his turf debut but is all speed and gets very brave when he's left to his own devices.
r9: devil's money. going to play a longshot in here as this comebacker has been drilling very solidly for gonzalez over the hollywood track. virtually any of these horses can win the race, so i'd spread in the exotics, but 'money looks like one of those horses who will certainly outrun his 15/1 morning line odds.
r10:radio station man. this field is very weak so i'll back a fresh face on the outside, who goes first out for cardenas. the turf breeding is there, so he need only clear from his outside box to go gate-to-wire under victor espinoza.
